Greets!
If you say so, my OTA is better than the local cable, and while the pic was fine, the audio sucked big time. I get better from the local stereo AM station.

Does anyone know what System..JBL..Altec...
TASCO was using for Sound Reforcement for touring Bands around 1982?
Any Idea what a fairly new, Built date 1979-1981, Civic Center would have bought for their general purpose..10,000 seat sports.. 7,000 3/4 circle Music concerts 'back then'?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">From 1960 to 1969 Arrays of Altec 210 were used
for outdoor festival concerts.
From 1969 Altec custom made woodstock binns containing 4 JBL D140,4 x 2-Cell & 2 x 10-Cell Altec Horns were still being used.

That's really inaccurate to say the Woodstock system was designed for 100,000. Nowhere near.
A lot more showed up at Woodstock than were expected. By modern standards that system would be barely adequate for a few thousand.
I used to do crowds of several thousand in the early 70's with maybe 800 watts. No way today.
The Woodstock system was large for it's day.

Crazy amounts of power we use today!
I have about 10,000 going into my subs, and another 5000 into the mains, and I don't like going past 6 or 7 hundred people.
I am using custom (Altec based) horns for midbass and midrange, and Altec horns on the highsn with EV 1.4" drivers. (Subs are hornloaded also, EV design.)

No it was designed for 150,000 people and 500,00
showed up.
Quote from FOH engineer.
"It worked very well," he says of the event. "I built special speaker columns on the hills and had 16 loudspeaker arrays in a square platform going up to the hill on 70-foot towers. We set it up for 150,000 to 200,000 people.
"Of course, 500,000 showed up."

All well and good- but be VERY careful what you believe about Woodstock. It has become larger than life.
Truth is the FOH engineer did NOT put that system together. Stan Goldstein did. I had several converstions with him in the early 70's.
The modified Altec bass bins were JBL loaded. The HF was Altec. There is a website somewhere, a lot of the PA wound up in South Africa and was used for years afterward.
Sadly I had tickets and never went- once I heard about all the stuff going on I stayed away. Was offered some ridiculous some of money for the 4 unused tickets about 20 years ago so I sold them. God knows what they would bring on FeePay these days.
